Today I'm excited to roll out Reviews — a simple, friendly way for our community to rate and comment on recipes.
This feature focuses on three goals:
- Make it easy to give quick, structured feedback (1–5 stars).
- Let people add a short comment to share tips or praise.
How it works
- Rating: a compact 1–5 star control in the recipe page. Ratings are required when you submit a review so averages stay meaningful.
- Comment: optional text (up to 1000 characters) to add context, tips, or variations.
- Edit & Delete: after posting you can update your rating or comment, or delete the review entirely.
- No self-reviews: recipe owners can't rate their own recipes — the review section remains visible but is disabled for owners.
What you’ll see
- Recipe cards and headers now show the average rating and total review count.
- The reviews panel lists recent reviews with the reviewer’s name, avatar, date, rating and comment.
- Pagination is used for long lists so pages stay fast and scannable.
A few examples
- Leave a quick 5★ and short kudos — it helps the recipe author and other users discover great content.
- Add a short tip about baking time or a swap for an ingredient in the comment field — small notes are often the most helpful.
What’s next
- Optional image attachments for reviews (coming later) so you can show your version of a recipe.
If you try the new Reviews feature, I’d love to hear what works and what could be better. Feel free to use the in-app feedback form.
